Not only that, but you can see which zone you are on and scroll through them so that you don’t have to count the zones to determine which one you are on. With the PowerSeries NEO, DSC has made it so that the zone types for zones 1-128 are all under section 001. For instance to program zone types on the old PowerSeries you would have to go to section 001 for the first 16 zones and 002 for the next 16 zones and so on. DSC was able to combine some programming sections in a more intuitive fashion. Even though the programming is a little easier with the PowerSeries NEO, you will not see that benefit without an LCD or touchscreen keypad and you would be programming ‘blind’. As with previous PowerSeries incarnations, we recommend having at least 1 alphanumeric keypad (HS2LCD or better) for programming. Programming on the NEO has been streamlined greatly. Another option is to add a PowerG transceiver, like the HSM2HOST9 or HS2LCDRF9, so that you can add wireless components in addition to the hardwired parts. The modules will add hardwire zones in increments of 8 so the HS2128 would need 15 HSM2108’s to reach 128 hardwired zones. Each NEO control panel needs HSM2108 zone expansion boards to reach their potential number of hardwire zones. Or even if you just have a busy home with a lot of people in and out. These make them ideal for a situation with a lot of employees that may need access. In addition the systems can use up to 94 proximity tags with the use of a HS2LCDP9 or similar keypad. They also have a maximum number of user codes up to 95. But DSC is billing the NEO as scalable from residential to commercial applications and so they have added the HS2128 which can handle up to 128 zones. The PowerSeries NEO retains the 16, 32, and 64 zone versions with the HS2016, HS2032, and HS2064 respectively. It takes all the strengths that made the PowerSeries so popular and added new features and upgraded many of the old ones. The DSC PowerSeries NEO is a completely updated revision of the PowerSeries line. Total Connect 2.0 Package Monitoring Add-Ons.Central Station Alarm Monitoring Services.Voice prompting is an awesome convenience feature that can give you information about the system without having to even look at the keypad. Just look for the ‘RF’ in the part number.įinally a ‘V’ indicates that the keypad has voice prompting. By adding the PowerG transceiver you can greatly increase the potential of your alarm system. Many people love getting a hardwired keypad with a built-in PowerG transceiver module since it kills two birds with one stone and saves money over buying a keypad and host module separately. They are powered by AA batteries and there’s also an optional power transformer to power the keypad using your house AC. These keypads work for an all wireless system or if you want to add a keypad somewhere that you don’t have wires going to. Many people of all kinds love using their tags for the convenience though.Ī ‘WF’ in the part number means that the keypad is completely wireless. They are often a great option for kids or employees since you don’t have to worry about them forgetting their code as long as they have their proximity tag. Proximity tags are assigned to a particular user code and allow you to just hold the tag up to a target on the keypad instead of entering that code. If you see a ‘P’ in the part number that means that the keypad has a proximity tag reader. Not all styles will have every iteration of combination of these features, but if there’s a must have feature that you’re looking for it will help you narrow down your search quickly. Once you choose the style of keypad there are various other options that you can possibly choose from: proximity, wireless, built-in transceiver, and voice. ![]() You can mix or match keypads as you desire. The touchscreen keypads have an intuitive graphical interface that will make day to day use much more pleasant while also looking great on the wall. The last style is the touchscreen keypad. ![]() This is the most common style and we recommend every system have at least one of the LCD or better keypads for programming and troubleshooting if nothing else. These look just like the icon keypads, but the screen will display much more information such as programming sections, the event log, and custom zone labels. ![]() The second is the full message LCD keypads. These are great for secondary keypads that will just be used for arming and disarming. The first is the icon keypads which are a fixed message keypad. The DSC PowerSeries NEO line ( 2016, 2032, 2064, and 2128 ) has maintained the classic PowerSeries look for their keypads while also adding new details to improve the look and quality of the units.
